Micro ORC System
Wouldn't it be interessting to build a small, cheap ORC power plant? It will be a lot of work and
cost some money but I think it would be great to develop such a system. I therefore started to
work on a small solar ORC plant which should deliver about 3kW. I have created a small thermodynamics
program based on excel, refprop an VBA and designed the scheme with all components and instrumentation.
I intend maximum cycle temperatures of about 160°C, but as I am living in a rather cold country with an
important amount of indirect solar radiation I will start to build the ORC cycle with an alternative
heat source.
My next step will be to focus on the expander.
I am planing to show images of my hobby in a blog and am always happy for feed-back.

The ORC-Forum is now online! Altough there is a lot of work ahead I
think this calls for a celebration! I therefore would like to raise glasses with you - at least virtually.
The next step will be to activate the forum.
Welcome to the ORC Forum
Alternative energy sources as solar, geothermal, biomass and waste heat are becoming more and more popular.
In order to convert these low temperature energy sources into usefull energy steam power plants
based on the organic rankine cycle are applied.
Steam power is still fascinating many people and I am one of them. This is the reason why I have created this site and
would like to present the ORC technology. And of course I would apreciate some technical discussions.
I therefore invite everybody to contact me in case of any questions on ORC and would be very interested to get supplementary information
or hints for my micro ORC system.
The ORC Forum was initiated in October 2010 and content will be added regularly.
